City of Rowlett General and Special Elections will be held on May 3, 2025. 

General election: City council seats 2, 4, and 6 (currently occupied by Jeff Winget, Mike Britton, and Debra Shinder, respectively).

Special election: Mayor's seat (currently unoccupied).

Voter registration requirements

The last day to register to vote in the May 3 election is Thursday, April 3, 2025. You must be registered to vote in the county of your residence (Dallas or Rockwall). Contact your county for more information. 

Photo ID is required to vote in Texas. Under Texas law, voters who possess one of the seven acceptable forms of photo ID must present that ID at the polls when voting in person. Voters who do not possess and cannot reasonably obtain one of the seven approved forms of photo ID may fill out a Reasonable Impediment Declaration (RID) at the polls and present an alternative form of ID, such as a utility bill, bank statement, government check, or a voter registration certificate.

How to register

  • In-person. Visit your county’s Voter Registrar office.
  • By mail. Pick up a voter registration application from your county’s Voter Registrar office, public libraries, government offices, or high schools.
  • Online. Fill out your voter registration application through our online portal here, then print, sign, and mail it to your county’s Voter Registrar office.
